Blood donors

Thank You to Our Blood Donors

This centre exists because of people who gave blood, again and again, with no expectation of return. Our patients — especially children — depend on voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation for life. We thank every individual, college, company, and community group that has ever organised or participated in a blood donation camp for TWA.

If your organisation would like to host a dedicated blood drive for thalassemia patients, please contact us — we will provide full logistical support.

Volunteer with us

Tell us a little about yourself. We'll match you with a role that fits your time and skills.

Your application is sent securely to office@twachennai.org. We never share your details.

Blood donors

You can give a thalassemia patient their next week of life.

Patients on our register need transfusions every 2–4 weeks. We coordinate drives across Chennai and welcome donors any time at our partner blood banks.

Eligible donors

Age 18–65, weight ≥ 50 kg, in good health and last donation more than 90 days ago.

Quick and safe

Whole blood donation takes about 10 minutes. Sterile, single-use equipment is used at every camp.

Health benefits

Donors receive a free haemoglobin and blood-pressure screening at every donation.

Save up to three lives

A single unit of whole blood can be separated into red cells, plasma and platelets, helping multiple patients.

Blood donors are the foundation of everything we do. Without consistent, voluntary donors, there is no alternative for our patients. We remain deeply grateful to every individual who has donated blood at our camps over the past two decades.

Every unit of blood donated at a TWA camp goes directly to a patient in our care. Over two decades, voluntary blood donors have been the single most important reason our patients are alive today. We remain deeply grateful to every donor who has ever shown up — and we welcome you to join the TWA donor family.
